iRhino 3D ver 2.0 has only been "in the wild" for the past few hours and - even in that short period of time - people have been catching bugs that our testing group failed to see...

Q: Why are my models rendering black?
A: This is a bug with assigning materials-by-layer. We'll fix this very soon in the next build. Assigning material-by-object should work correctly.

Q: I'm using iRhino 3D ver 2.0 in [some non-English language] and some text is not translated.
A: We missed a couple obscure errors in the translation process. These will be localized in the next build...but we'll also work hard to make the errors themselves go away ;)

Q: The sample models are gone. How do I get them back?
A: We'll add a feature in the next build that allows you to get the sample models back without resetting the app itself.

Please report bugs you see here or to me via e-mail (dan@mcneel.com). Thanks for your help!

Ver 2.1 is up on the App Store: this version corrects the "matte-black" material bug with some models.

Andru-

I hope it will be available soon too.  As for this morning, we're still waiting in the queue for review.  Believe me, I wish we had caught this bug before releasing ver 2.0.

The temporary workaround for this bug is to assign a material-by-object to the object that is rendering as black.  The bug is caused by assigning materials-by-layer.  I suspect the models that were rendering black were using the default material - gray - so you would have to select all objects and change their property from material-by-layer to material-by-object, then save.

Again, sorry about this,

-Dan

Hope version 2.1 to be very soon available. We have major production problems because of the black renderings.

FYI: I just sent iRhino 3D version 2.1 to the App Store with fixes for many minor bugs - as well as a major bug with materials showing up as black.  The App Review process usually takes a day or two...so expect to see more normal behavior on the next update.
